James Thackeray, Deacon
Born “Up North”, I’ve been coming to Bethel virtually ever since I came down South in 1999.
My main role in the church is as a deacon, with specific responsibility for the church finances. I am also involved in the church services in a variety of ways and help lead one of the community groups. Like many, I was raised in a Christian family, but only really understood that I needed my own relationship with God when I was around 11. At that point, I asked for forgiveness of my sins, and became a follower of Jesus. It is a real privilege to be able to serve Him through the various activities at church.
My wife, Fiona, also attends the church. We both enjoy exploring the surrounding countryside either together on walks, or individually as a keen runner.
