Sunday Services

It can be daunting to go to a church service for the first time. So here’s a quick summary of what to expect at Bethel.  There is no dress code, please dress as you feel comfortable.  Normally there’s someone at the door to greet you and they can explain anything you are unsure about.

Please note that, due to the current COVID-restrictions, some of what we normally do as described below is currently not happening. Please contact us if you would like up-to-date information. We also broadcast our morning services live each week – click here for more info.

Our main Sunday service is at 10.30am

Music is both contemporary and traditional, to help us express our praise to God.

The person chairing the meeting may mention events that are coming up. They will introduce the songs and prayers and thoughts or clips to help us in worship.

A talk from the Bible is a major part of our meetings. A passage from the Bible will be read and someone, often our Pastor, will explain what the passage means and how it applies to us today.  You can pick up a Bible when you come in.

You won’t be asked to come to the front or be embarrassed in any way!  Nor will you be asked to give any money; the church members fund the church.
Afterwards we stay around for a drink and a chat.

Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time, or have been a Christian for many years, you should be encouraged and inspired by the service. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

We love having children around – in fact one third of the morning congregation are children and babies.  Everyone stays together for the first 20 minutes or so and then we have a range of activities for different age groups:

Every week there is a crèche for under 5s  Bubbles Creche

Most weeks in term time there are groups for Year R – 2  Explosions and for Years 3 – 5  Explorers

On alternate Sundays, there is also a group for Year 6 to Year 8 children during term time.  At other times they stay in for the talk.  The Grid

Once each month there is a group for teenagers.  Y Sunday

We try to be flexible.  If it suits your child to go out during the talk but their age group is not meeting on the particular day we are happy for them to go to a different group.

Sunday evenings

We meet at 6pm on Sunday evenings. The service is more traditional and the congregation is smaller.  On the third Sunday in the month we focus on communion.  On fifth Sundays we concentrate on global missions.
